We celebrated Christmas with my family in Forest Grove and all thoroughly enjoyed seeing the JOY of Christmas through the eyes of a two-year old this year! Hazel has been tickled pink by all the Christmas lights on houses the past month, as well as the pretty Christmas trees. She has been requesting her night-time story to be either Drummer Boy or Twas The Night Before Christmas for a few weeks now as well. She loves Christmas! Oh, and if you are a blog follower, you know she loves a good rendition of Jingle Bells.
Christmas Day was wonderful! Here are some photos from our time with my family. We arrived Wednesday and were able to stay through Saturday afternoon.
A quick pose before heading off to Storybook Lane. Walking along Storybook Lane (just about 5 minutes from my parent's home) has been a Christmas-time tradition all my life. It was so much fun to take my children this year, continuing the tradition and delighting my daughter in the process!
We didn't see Hazel on the NICE list, nor on the NAUGHTY list. Is there any question? :)
Hazel and Nana were equally excited by the candy cane tree.
Our cold group at the 1/2 way point. Henley had the coziest ride.
This scene was always a favorite of mine, Santa's Elves hard at work.
A magical place!
The next night, on Christmas Eve, we all headed to church in the evening. Hazel was excited to wear her beautiful dress from Grandma.
After church, Papa read Twas the Night Before Christmas and then Hazel was tucked into bed. I do believe I saw visions of sugar plums dancing in her head!
Christmas morning we awoke to our very own Santa Baby!
Henley was the cutest Santa Baby - complete with two cheeks that jiggled like a two bowls full of jelly.
Santa Baby and Papa do some serious basketball viewing as we all awaited the arrival of our family elf, Uncle Patrick.
Hazel and Henley in a sweet moment...
Quickly followed by a SQUEEZING moment. Ahh...to be TWO.
Still waiting on Patrick...Nana gets time with Henley.
Papa with his little guy.
Henley pleads with the camera, hurry up Patrick! (Just kidding)
Hazel actually didn't mind waiting until after lunch to begin "Christmas Morning." Next year, we may not be so lucky.
Henley finally had to give in to the mid-morning nap. Presents will have to wait.
Lily enjoys some Christmas day sunshine out back.
Bella pleads at the door to come in and tear through the gifts - Patrick or no Patrick!
And then...he arrived!! Uncle Patrick is here...time for stockings!
Hazel loved all the goodies in her stocking, maybe next year Santa will give her a new tooth brush and floss to go along with all the candy. (Last year he did give her a toothbrush, such a smart guy!)
OOOHHHH!
After stockings, Hazel didn't hesitate to start opening gifts. The tea set from Nana and Papa was a BIG hit.
Henley had a more laid back approach to Christmas festivities, he preferred a perch on any available lap.
Patrick's bride, dear Bonnie, arrived later and we were all quite happy to spend the rest of the evening with her. Henley is hoping he may have worked his baby magic and maybe he will have cousins sometime in the not too far off future??
My little man and I.
Henley sporting his new hat created by Bonnie. He thinks the two "ears" take some of the attention off his cheeks.
Before leaving Saturday, my girlfriends were able to come over with their families for brunch and hang-out time. What fun! (Me and Henley, Michelle and Hazel, Ang and Ryan, Patti and Nathan)
Hazel was so happy that Michelle was able to visit from Texas this Christmas. We ALL hope that next year her trip for Christmas will be MUCH shorter.
What a wonderful holiday!
