Just Hazel

Here are a few pictures of Hazel this morning and yesterday. I TRIED to get the poor baby's hair to go in pigtails...you can see how hard I tried. Hazel was a trooper, and didn't seem to mind. This morning I took some photos of her out in the new path. She found a dried up leaf that she loved. Oh to be so pleased with something so dead, shrivelled up and DIRTY! :)

Look close, you may see the spikey TINY pigtails...

Wish this one were in focus...had to share as this is my joyful baby this morning!

(No, those aren't teeth...still none of those...doesn't keep her from eating!

Fudge Bar

Well, Nana (my mom) visited us this week and we had so much fun. It was Nana's help with Hazel that really made my work on the garden path possible! Thanks Mom! One night, we were enjoying some fudge bars after a long day of work in the yard. Well, guess who wanted some...and guess who gave in...her Momma AND her Nana. Here are some photos from Hazel's first fudge bar experience and then the bathtime that of course had to follow. Bib? Who needs a bib? :)

Bathing Beauty

Our Path!

Well, Beau had a business trip this week and was gone for 2.5 days...during that time, we were busy!! I was determined to get the path done, and hours of sweat and dirt later, it is!! Beau came home last night and I was quite proud to show off the new path that goes from our front yard, through the side yard gate, along the side yard, and around to the back deck off our bedroom!! I haven't measured, but I think it is about 50 feet long...and about 3 feet wide. Here is a slideshow of the project in process and then completed!!! (Please don't dwell on the weeds next to the path...hopefully those will be tackled soon.)

Yard Project

I have been wanting to put in a flagstone path from the front yard, through the side yard gate, along the side yard...and then to our back deck. It took a bit of convincing for Beau to get on-board...but when we went to "look at" the stone on Sunday, and it was all 10% off...that convinced us both! We bought a ton (and some), and now the work will be to clear the way for the path, lay the sand and rock and then fill with dirt and finally stepable plants! :) We have begun...here are some photos from Sunday evening.....
2080 lbs of flagstone

Lying the stone out...like a puzzle each piece has to fit just right!

Calling it quits for the day, we made it to the gate!

Summer Vacation

This is Will enjoying his first week of Summer Vacation!

Okay...so house rule is he is required to spend an hour (at least) outside with independent play AND read for an hour...he got both done at once. Funny having to require a child to "play" outside in the beautiful summer weather....oh the age of video games! :(

Nathan, Ryan and Hazel

The babies are growing up!!! Ryan will be ONE next month, Nathan ONE in August, and Hazel ONE in September! Last summer...I got together with Ang and Patti to compare our growing bellies and share pregnancy tales. Now, we get together and talk about life as mommies! Here is a short video of the squirely babies we love!

Rocking & Talking on the Blue Puppy

Blue was the name of my dog growing up. He died last year. What a good dog he was! I must say, I love seeing Hazel enjoy this blue puppy we got from our friends, the Youngs. Here she has found that he is great to stand on!

Here she is making her new favorite sound while enojoying her new ride!! (If you look close you can see Ang chasing Ryan in the background).

Happy Father's Day!

Today is Beau's first Father's Day! We celebrated by giving him a drawing of Hazel-nut! Here are some photos I took as he and Hazel opened the gift. She loved the striped wrap and green ribbon!

This is the drawing I did of Hazel-nut.
It sure was a JOY to do a drawing of my sweet baby girl!
(Daddy Beau liked it, by the way.)

Above, the photo I did the drawing from.

Hazel was interested in that baby in the paper!

In the afternoon, we all headed into town and went for a walk along the riverpath. It was such a pretty day. Hazel took her first ride in a SWING! She loved it. I took a video, but am having a hard time uploading videos today, I will try again later.

Bella "butted" right on in!! Hazel didn't seem to mind sharing her blanket...

Once home, I styled Hazel's hair in a faux-hawk...all that sunblock makes for some good "product".

A Day at the Lake!

Our friends, the Whites and the Petrjanos' came down to visit yesterday! We had a barbeque at the lake near our house, and the kiddos had lots of good fun. Here are some pictures from our beautiful day out in the fresh air with good friends. Thanks guys for making the LONG drive to visit us in the boonies! :)

Nathan, Ryan & Hazel - together again!

Such good friends...Ang, Becky and Patti!

Nap time for Nathan

After the lake, we came back to the house with the Petrjanos family. Ryan showed some interest in Hazel's chair, but more interest in our yet-to-be babyproofed house! He is WALKING!!

Such a silly girl! We all had so much fun with our friends today!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Yesterday was Beau's birthday!! We took Donald along for the evening of FUN! Here are some pictures from our evening adventures. Beau may have enjoyed Donald's birthday gift more than his own - note the "old man" on the kid's Zoingo Boingo! (Weight limit was 140...hmm) After dinner, we all went to a park to play. Will surpised us with his ability to scale the wall!

Here are some pictures of our fun from last night - Beau's birthday!

Here is Hazel taking in some fresh air, leaves and grass!

While standing on the bridge over the river, I looked down just in time to see this huge beaver swim under us!! By the time I got the camera out, I got this picture of him swimming away. It was really amazing! Beau, Will, and Donald were also able to see him.

On our way into town, Hazel got SICK all over herself, her pretty dress she was wearing for Daddy's birthday, the carseat, and the car!! So much mess!!! I went through about 1/2 a pack of wipes to get it somewhat clean, and of course stripped the icky baby down. This was one time I DIDN'T pack an extra set of clothes - figures! We all headed for Target to buy her an outfit (the one in the pictures above). What fun!

Looks like Hazel feels better!

Coordination & Cheerios

So, our Hazel is now 9 months. At her 9 month check-up, she charmed her doctor and nurse...and I was reassured that she is doing just perfectly. She weighed in at 19.5 lbs and measured 28 inches long! For those of you with kiddos...she is in the 65th percentile for weight and 73rd percentile for height!! :) No wonder she is about out of 9 month size clothes already!!

After her appointment, I took the doctor's advice and gave Hazel a tray of Cheerios to work on feeding herself. (I had tried before, but her interest was only in scooting them off the tray and not into her mouth.) After a bit, she realized these little round things were EDIBLE. Here are two videos of Hazel with the Cheerios...the first was on Friday and her skill was just developing...the second was yesterday (three days later)...note what a quick learner she is!! Can we say Harvard? Oh, and we have quite the clean up system...Bella. She loves that Hazel is getting bigger, she just hopes that soon Hazel will be eating something more interesting than Cheerios.

Okay, so this is a video I took last Friday after the Cheerio time. Hazel started making this funny face and sound...I couldn't resist sharing. :)

Just hanging out out at home...

Time Flies!

Hard to believe it has been (nearly) 9 months since our little Hazel-nut was born! I put a favorite picture from each month into this slideshow...watch our little nut grow!

Smooooooothie!!

Hazel and I shared a yogurt and fruit smoothie yesterday! I didn't set out to share with her, but who was I kidding...she is my child and she likes to eat what Mommy eats! It was her first time with a straw - no problem! :)

This face cracks me up...she was sooo intent on getting that smoothie!
