Hot Glue Rocker Fun

It is hard to believe that Hazel is sturdy and big enough to really enjoy the rocker that Nana made for her. She loves touching all the color hot glue dots, one of these days I will show her the chair I made in college...talk about lots of dots to touch!!

A Night AWAY...or two

Beau and I celebrated seven years of marriage this past weekend with a trip to Seaside, Oregon. It was a monumental weekend, not just for the fact that we have outlasted 99% of Hollywood couples, but that we left Hazel in the care of my parents, her Nana and Grandpa! Sure, I had the family on speed dial, and used it OFTEN, but overall, it was a huge success.

Seaside was littered with families for the Memorial Day weekend, and I had to resist the urge to shout "I have one of those" whenever I saw a family carting around a little one...Beau helped me contain myself, though I saw him looking longer than normal at little ones in pink as he thought of our Hazel. It was refreshing at times, especially when Beau and I challenged each other to a spin in the Seaside bumber cars...something we wouldn't have BOTH been able to do had Hazel been with us. I haven't laughed like that in ages. Fun! Oh, and Beau declares he was the winner as he lapped me three times! Not my fault that I kept getting hit so hard I got turned around and went the wrong way - three times. :)

Nana and Grandpa had a wonderful time with Hazel (oh, and Bella our dog as well). Hazel slept like a champ, sleeping all the way through the night BOTH nights. Hazel went to a garden party with her grandparents too, likely a key opportunity for Nana to show off Hazel to all her friends! Beau and I are thrilled that the weekend went well, and though we won't be leaving Hazel again soon, it is encouraging to know that it is an option.

Once back with Hazel, I squeezed her a little extra hard, smelled in her yummy baby smell, and enjoyed hearing her babble on and on and on...

Okay, I have been putting off work most of the past week...some reports I need to write, and instead of getting them done...I blog. :)

After these two videos load, I must get to those reports. Hazel is just learning sooo much right now and changing before our eyes. Since her extended family lives far away and can't see her like we can, I try to catch as much as I can. I guess I am justifying my procrastination!




Look at this big girl! Yes, the wall is helping A LOT, but check out how Hazel is learning to use her core strength to balance! I love her "granny face" at the end of the video.

Gerber Baby?

I have had a lot of people say that Hazel looks like the Gerber baby...roundness of features I am thinking. What do you think? I pulled up the best clip art Gerber baby I found and paired it below with a photo of Hazel from this past weekend.

It is funny that the day I post about the Gerber baby....we found out our good friends had a little GERMER baby! We are soooo happy that baby Isaiah is here. Congrats to Kevin and Libby.

Squeaky Clean & Happy

Okay, confession time. Hazel doesn't get a bath every day. Okay, not even every other day. We are happy when she gets at least two a week. It isn't that she doesn't like a bath, she really loves it. However, our home is small and our sink appears to be getting smaller by the second! We will be moving to the big girl tub soon. Oh, and daddy gave her a bath ON HIS OWN for the first time a few weeks ago...and all went well. She gets lots of wipe-downs...and she really doesn't smell unless, well you know...there is something stewing in her drawers. Here are some photos from her bath the other day. Oh, and yes, she is getting a bath tonight.

My Pink Hat

Time to break out the pink sun hat! Record heat of 93 hit today...Hazel cooled out in the front lawn in her pink hat and pink suit. She dealt with the heat pretty well, and didn't mind her hat in the least. Nothing like a baby in a sun hat to make you feel like summer is on it's way!

Enjoying Some Sunsine

We are having record heat here this week...Hazel is doing pretty well, though a bit more cranky I would say. Or, maybe she is feeding off my cranky energy as I do not like being overheated!! Here she is hanging out in the yard, enjoying "Gwen's Garden"...a garden we did two years ago in memory of baby Gwen. It was special to see Hazel enjoy the flowers and rocks in the garden, something I have imagined for awhile. Happy Friday!!
