Caspian's Shower - Part 1 & 2

Sunday, we all geared up for Caspian's Shower.
Roberta hosted at her house in Oakridge.

We decorated and prepped food.

 Then the phone rang.

A call you never want to receive...
Caspian and Holly were in an accident.
OH MY.
Caspian said they were ok.
The car wasn't.

Bruce and Roberta hurried to be of help,
My mom and I stayed back with my three.

 Some guests arrived.
Pictures seemed silly, but I thought Caspian may want them later.
We weren't sure what to do with ourselves.

My three passed time on the bench...

Smooching...practice for when they have a new cousin.

 Being silly.

We kept hearing some updates, here and there.
Caspian was going to get checked out at the hospital.
We stayed back, thinking she would return soonish.

 More decorations went up.
Just need the mommy-2-be now.

 More guests, another toddler, Zalea.
The kids played "Toddler-tug-a-toddler".

Holly was okay.
Even up for a tour of the yard by tourguide Hazel.
She loved being useful.

 We awaited more news.
Hazel and new friend Brandi.

Holden coordinated his hair with the chair.

 More waiting...

The beauitiful and completely VEGAN cake.
Made by Caspian's neighbor and friend, Clover.
Note the sculpted watermellon on top.

 Roberta's vintage decorations.

More waiting.

Then the call that Caspian must stay overnight.
We decided the shower must go to her.
McKenzie Willamette Hospital...
HERE WE COME!

 The lovely mother-to-be and Holly.
SO THANKFUL these two are okay...I mean THREE!

Baby Ashby-Orr is destined to be a...
Shrimp Boat Captain.

Henley was so helpful in cutting the cake.
(Not really.)

 Rainbow on the inside!

Three guys interested in the rainbow cake!

We brought the shower games to the hospital.
Who's Who?

Group shot, Hazel had a string wound on her finger...
Her middle finger.  Eak!
(I swear she has no idea what that gesture implies!)

 Darling sweater.
Can't wait to see it on my niece/nephew.
I think NEPHEW!

A long day for all.
So happy that everyone came out of this okay.
Shaken, but okay.

Now we await a BABY!

Olympic Trials in Eugene

Rain, rain, GO AWAY,
Come again some other day!

Beau and I were given tickets
to the Olympic Trails in Eugene
last Saturday.
We were grateful to watch the amazing athletes,
not so grateful for the SHOWER!

 It POURED on us,
and all of Hayward Field.
The "squeegie guys" battled Mother Nature.
(She won!)

I was excited to see Lolo Jones.
110 Meter Hurdles.

 Hello Lolo.
(Say that three times fast!)

 Amazing!

She did fantastic and made the team.
I will certainly continue cheering for her...
in LONDON.

When the rain stopped for a short time,
the "blower guys" came out in force.

 Bryan Clay - Decathlete
(We didn't know it here,
but he had already been DQ'd.)

A few hours (after we left),
Ashton Eaton set a WORLD RECORD
in the Decathlon.
An OREGON native!!

Headed back to our car,
ABSOLUTELY DRENCHED!
***
I will happily watch the rest of the trails this week,
from my living room!

 Going THAT way...

 Going THIS way.
