My poor sick baby!

Be thankful there are no pictures with this post. Poor Hazel is a sick little girl today...and was yesterday as well. She hasn't been sick like this EVER, so Beau and I are learning new techniques...such as how to move swiftly to the sink with a puker. Pictures of that momentous occasion - not necessary! :) She is able to keep down some crackers and has had some watered down juice today, and we are hoping she is on the road to recovery. She has had colds before, but nothing like this. It sure makes a mom and dad feel helpless to not be able to make their baby feel better. Hazel has slept about 18 of the last 24 hours, so hopefully all that sleep is helping her to get better. I am sure we will have a new post of our smiling - HEALTHY - little girl soon!

The timing of this illness is interesting. Our transitioning new foster son, Matt (age 12), came over last night for his first visit to our home, oh and his first dinner. Within minutes of his arrival, Hazel threw up for the first time of the evening. (She went on to throw up a number of other times.) She had a lot in there too. I was holding her, and Matt was sitting on the couch a few feet away. Miraculously, he was fine with it all, and on the drive back to the residence he told Beau he had a great visit. What? If that was a great visit, imagine how much fun he will have when we don't have a barfing infant to welcome him!!

In between bouts of sickness and whines, Hazel definitely took note of our visitor and even offered up Matt a few quick smiles and waves of welcome. Matt enjoyed this and was quick to note how "cute" Hazel is. Again, imagine how cute he will think she is when she is well!! We are looking forward to Matt moving in...as we really see him as being a great fit with our family. He has a great sense of humor and already he and Bella (our dog) have bonded. More to come of Matt in future posts, I am sure.

Back to my laundry...a healthy baby produces enough laundry on her own...but man, a sick baby produces soooo much more!!
